We were very happy with the hotel. We had a one bedroom suite with a very large living room, and a full kitchen. There was high speed internet access and two TVs in our suite. The room was always kept very clean, and the staff was very helpful. The place has a very nice restaurant on the roof, and a workout room (neither of which did we use). The location was about a 10 minutes walk to grand central station or 51 street subway. We loved to walk so this was okay for us, but ours may find that walk far. There was a friendly grocer across the street so we could fill the fridge with some basics, and on first avenue, there are some great places to eat and drink, and the U.N. is right across the street. We would stay here again.

Staying in NYC, people say the hotels are very small. To my surprise I felt this hotel was like a mini apartment. This place was very clean, and the staff was excellent. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Convenient affordable yet quiet and upscale. Away from the bustling crowd but with walking distance of all of mid town Manhattan. I will definitely recommend bookman tower to family and friends.

Staff is very nice and attentive. Both dining establishments were well worth it and the staff for breakfast was the best we encountered during our whole NYC trip. The hotel is older and the furnishing are in need of update. I would definitely call the front desk right away to get sheets if you plan on using the pull-out sofa. Also, bring a hair dryer. Overall, the Beekman was a great value for the price. If you are up for walking to tourist locations. This would be a great fit.

It was a nicety landmark, art deco hotel built for professional women. It suited our purposes just fine although it's being completely renovated and will no longer be available at a reasonable price.

Recently bought, the hotel is slated for a much needed $35m renovation. We were upgraded when we arrived (3 of us) to a 1 bedroom suite and again when tiles fell off the shower wall, to a huge 1000 sq, ft. Suite. Fantastic location, kept the entire east side within a $5 cab ride. Cool art deco lobby. Great staff.

The staff of the hotel was especially helpful and polite for anything that was needed from maintenance issues to opening a bottle of wine. Maps and tourist information was available and explained well. The location is great for a visit to nick as a tourist. Food and bars are in the neighborhood and one feels like its home.

Overall, this hotel has charm and is a safe, not too out of the way location for sightseeing. The beds need to be replaced! But the hotel staff and the restaurant make this hotel a deal. The restaurant is expensive, but worth the view and the food was tasty.

I thought this hotel was an excellent value. The room was very large for a New York hotel. It had a small kitchen which was also nice. The room itself was very clean and had the appearance of a high end hotel. However do not expect the four seasons. Things that made this are 2.5 stars: It did not have high end mattresses; the bathroom was at the Motel 6 level. Shower curtain was covered in mildew; however the rest of the bathroom was clean. Based on the price, I would stay here again.

I have and will recommend this hotel. I was on a leisure trip to meet my daughter, from Australia, who was visiting NYC on business. She found the gym adequate for a brief daily workout. The spacious suite allowed each of us freedom. Requests were promptly attended to. The kitchen was more than sufficient for meals; however we chose to use it only for breakfasts. Location, while a 20-25 minute walk to time square provided a quiet retreat at the end of a busy day.

It is an Art Deco landmark building with a great bar on the 26th floor. The views are terrific. The room I stayed in had a full kitchen which made having breakfast in a plus. Service and cleanliness were of top quality. The neighborhood has a safe and quite air conducive to strolling in the evening. Pubs and eateries are abundant.

We loved our room, but were unable to sleep the first night The front desk said there wasn't anything they could do, as the air had been out for almost 2 weeks. I voiced my great disappointment and made sure they knew I would be putting a not very nice review of their hotel up on the Internet I asked for a box fan. She said there weren't any available. I told her I'd go buy one and bring them the bill. She said she'd try to find one. They brought one to the room at about midnight that second night. It made the room bearable. I still loved the room. Next time, if we get the Beckman again, I think I'll call to make sure the air is working.

The original room we were given had a lousy view of a brick wall and two small twin beds that would be too small for kids let alone two adult men, to the hotels credit after the 1st night they upgraded us to a bigger room with a open up couch bed, and a great view.

The hotel was just a tad off the beaten path, but a short walk and you were in the heart of Manhattan. Staff was friendly and helpful and fitness center nice and well-kept. Large room, especially for nick.

This hotel was very clean and close to metro stops. We really enjoyed the area that it was located. The area seemed very safe and clean as well. The suite was huge with a full kitchen area and there was lots of privacy in our room.

We have traveled to New York with Amtrak from Toronto for a few days of sight-seeing and visiting. We were favorably impressed by the size of our accommodation. We stayed next door to the Beekman Towers (the annex), which doesn't have it's own front desk. Check in was slow because it took a while to locate our reservation. We were pleasantly surprised because we didn't really know what to expect from a 2 1/2 star hotel. We had a separate living room and bedroom with a small kitchen. My daughter joined us (she flew from L.A.) and was able to use the pull-out couch - we had requested a separate bed (which wasn't provided, or noted on our reservation - despite my phone call to the hotel). We had to ask for bedding for the pull-out couch - (it wasn't in the room). Other than the hassle of having to open the couch each evening, we were comfortable. We had ample closet space and hangers. The hotel was in an excellent location and I liked the spaciousness of the rooms and the art-deco feel of it. We didn't use the kitchen much but noticed that the fridge was dripping water on the inside. Over all we had a pleasant stay at the hotel and would recommend it to my friends.

Adequate place but not stellar. Very large suite rooms like a full 1 bedroom apartment. Decent neighborhood by the UN with short walk to subway and Central Park, Rockefeller Center etc.
